The BMG Special Products compilation The Best of Jefferson Airplane: Somebody to Love is a ten-track, budget-priced set that contains some of the Jefferson Airplane 's best-loved hits, mainly from the album Surrealistic Pillow, including "White Rabbit," "Today," "Comin' Back to Me," and "Somebody to Love," plus six album tracks.

" Today " is a folk rock ballad written by Marty Balin and Paul Kantner from the band Jefferson Airplane. It first appeared on their album Surrealistic Pillow with a live version later appearing on the expanded rerelease of Bless Its Pointed Little Head. Marty Balin said, "I wrote it to try to meet Tony Bennett.

There are few listeners willing to admit a comparable love for both Jefferson Airplane and the group's heavily fractured and produced mid-'80s incarnation Starship, but for those yearning to have "Embryonic Journey," "Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil," "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," and "We Built This City" occupy the same slab of silver, BMG's very budget-looking 36 All-Time Greatest Hits box.

As Trippy As It Can Get. With its massive success, Jefferson Airplane’s other albums forever lived in the shadow of Surrealistic schooltilkawanconttenmarikangpunckirkling.coinfoson Airplane Takes Off was pretty good but apparently not enough for them to break into mainstream. With the addition of Grace Slick and Spencer Dryden for their second record, the finally got the recognition they deserved.

Aug 17,  · If Jefferson Airplane peaked during the Summer of Love, Slick’s onstage rambling (now known to fans as the “shrimp shit rap”) marks a moment their descent gained speed. Over the next two years, album sales declined as internal feuding intensified, until they parted ways in Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady played together in Hot Tuna.
