Holy smokes. After The Waterboys last two waterboys albums "Modern Blues" and "Out Of All Of This Blue", I thought The Waterboys had lost their edge. Those two albums were not bad; however, to me signaled lack luster lyrics and okay music. Then came "Where The Action Is". Wow. I cannot say enough about it. Wonderful/5(63).

WATERBOYS Vinyl Records and CDs: Restless as the seafaring nomads whose chanties and airs they borrowed from, the Waterboys called no one style of music their own, but roamed the oceans and passage of time for sources of inspiration. Mike Scott and his ragtag troupe of aging folkies, pub buskers, and salty punks crafted with an artisan's care.

It was the first Waterboys record with Karl Wallinger as part of the band and also includes Roddy Lorimer's first trumpet solo for the band on the track "A Pagan Place". This reissue is cut from the remaster and contains full length versions of ‘All the Things You Gave Me' & ‘The Thrill Is Gone' which were not used on the original LP/5(51).

Maybe Van Morrison, who finds transcendence in quiet contemplation, or Simple Minds, who mine the subconscious for dizzying moments of enlightenment, come close. But unlike them, Scott – the writer, voice and main musician in the Waterboys – pursues the ecstatic union of flesh and spirit at a full gallop.
